8 Septembrie : 1880 - A fost infiintata Marea Loja Nationala a Romaniei, ca federatie a lojilor romanesti; dupa 1948, activitatea francmasoneriei a fost interzisa in Romania(8/20).
1930 - S-a nascut dramaturgul, publicistul si scenaristul Tudor Popescu; piesele sale au constituit o puternica satira la adresa regimului comunist: "Satana cel Bun si drept", "O dragoste nebuna, nebuna, nebuna" (m.22.08.1999).
1958 - S-a nascut Michael Lardie, clapar, chitarist si compozitor american (Great White).
